How Spirit Guides Help
The Psychic Life
When I learned how to channel, the books I found to read concentrated on the spiritual and metaphysical aspects of the world. They were our guides telling us things.
I remember one of my favorites was Emmanuel. I don’t know if anybody is channeling him now because his channel, Pat Rodegast, passed in 2012. I met her once, though. She signed a copy of one of her books for me. I was a relatively new channel in those days, but I hadn’t said anything about that to her. She considered what she would write in my book and said, “I don’t know why he had me say this, but here.” She handed me the book, and the inscription was, “We meet again.” If that is not gratifying to hear, I don’t know what is.
I remember feeling a lightbulb go off in my head when Emmanuel said in one of his books, “Dying is like waking up from a nap.”
Anyway, the teachers are all there to talk to you. I talk to many of them, and I’ve always loved talking to Emmanuel.
In the early years of my career as a channel, I was under the impression that there was one and only one spirit guide per human being. I mean, we all have one. Think of them as guardian angels. They sort of trade-off duties the older you get. Or, at least, they treat you differently.
From what I’ve been told, children each have a guide. It’s interesting because both the guides and many people say that children can channel easily. They mostly stop as they grow, and we start laying down the “rules” for them. There are some people like Sylvia Browne, who passed in 2012, and James Van Praagh, who is very much alive right now, who continued their relationship with their guides through adulthood. However, in my opinion, you need a supportive bunch of adults around you for this to happen.
There’s nothing like telling a little kid that under no circumstances are they allowed to talk to their imaginary friends anymore. Talk about putting the kibosh on something. Adults can be killjoys sometimes.
I asked my guide, Seth, why I had to go through all the adjusting to having a guide as an adult. I figured it would have been so much easier to have been psychic from the beginning. He said to me, “You would not have survived.” That’s when I realized my family was…
