I Don’t Think I Killed It

What I’m talking about is my Sourdough

In doing a bit of research for this piece I discovered that there is a difference between a sourdough starter and a Herman. A Herman is a sweet starter. It is also called an Amish friendship bread starter.

The Herman is made from flour, milk, and sugar and uses commercial yeast to get it started on its bubbling little yeasty life. The idea is that it is just enough sourdough shared by a friend to create your own sourdough starter; about a cup.
