NaNoWriMo Done — What Now?

I wrote a book during NaNoWriMo. It ended up 52,746 words which won the competition of 50,000 words at the end of November 2023. That was my impetus. That got me off of my butt and doing something bigger than what I normally do which are the articles I write on the Medium platform. I’ve actually written a total of 5 books through the years during the NaNoWriMo competitions. Does anybody see them out there for sale?

I propose to remedy that. Soon, I hope. The competitions are fierce writing wind sprints. The first ones are the most difficult until you begin to develop a writer’s stamina. I didn’t know I had it until I knew I had it.

I have heard advice from many people recommending that after a huge, concerted run at a book writing project you leave it alone for six months and then coming back to it to finish it up. I have tried that. Several times. The problem with that for me is that I won’t just drop it for six months, I will drop it forever. Back in the day, there are a few projects I started that really did not deserve to be picked up again, but damn it! I want to change that.

My proposal, to myself is that I continue with the book I started during last month’s NaNoWriMo event and work on it until it is done. Now. I need to add about 10,000…
