Which Do You Want?
Rapid development is dangled before us as a possibility for success in many of the interests we have as human beings. It applies here as we try to move into the higher echelons as writers at Medium, resulting in a nice steady paycheck. I’ve read the articles — not all of them, of course, but those that catch my eye by favorite writers and even from writers I’ve not yet read. I choose to move forward with some suggestions, and yet, there are others I do not pursue.
Who doesn’t want to earn $3,000 every month? Who doesn’t want to lose 75 pounds of fat in two weeks? Who doesn’t want to skip past 15 or 20 years of practice as a ballet dancer to perform at The Met?
One reason I don’t jump on every suggestion is that I am afraid to move too quickly. But that’s just who I am. I’ve been that way since I was a kid, and I had a lot of change forced upon me without being able to have any say in the matter. That’s true for any kid, really.
